Shown here is a short-handled dipper gourd about 14 inches long, carved with a heart pattern. These gourds are also nice with circular carving patterns. If a dipper gourd is grown on the ground it will have a curved handle. Dippers grown on a trellis will have straight handles. Please refer to this chart for help in naming gourd types.
