IVY HILL FARM, Big Prairie, Ohio
October usually brings the first frost, but some of our hardshell gourds are still growing on the vines. Although it is fine to leave the hardshells on the vine until a light frost, we like to begin clearing the garden as soon as possible. Any mature gourd is moved to the protected area alongside the main barn, and stacked so that the air can circulate around them. Most of this year's crop will not be ready for craftwork until late winter or early spring, but we still have a good selection of dried gourds from last year. As always, we would be happy to take time to help you choose a birdhouse. We welcome your inquiries by mail, phone, or e-mail
