Artistry of Denny Wainscott
Denny Wainscott creates art from gourds, beginning by planting the seed. After harvesting, drying and choosing his basic forms, Wainscott carves them, using woodburing tools to embellish his elegant designs with rich contrasting blacks. His first exposure to his artform in boyhood came from his grandfather who taught him to turn gourds into birdhouses. From this beginning, Wainscott now makes highly polished and refined sculptural pieces that blur the line between traditional crafts and fine arts. (more by this artist)
